Founded in 2010 the Ahvaan Trust is a not-for profit organization, that works with government school teachers, developing and training them to become the best educators they can be.
While there are a growing number of educational institutions (and opportunities) in India, we believe there’s a gap that needs bridging — that of effective teaching, and fostering students with core values, life skills, and ethical norms that mold them into responsible, well-rounded citizens.
In the run-up to Ahvaan’s inception, like-minded individuals who have been closely involved with education came together to identify where and how to boost education in India. 65% of India’s school-going children attend government schools where teaching methods are traditional and have not kept pace with today’s world. It was understood that the best way to contribute was to introduce teachers to modern educational training and practices.
At the helm of Ahvaan Trust is our founder, Mr. Indrajit Seth, and it is under his expertise and leadership that Ahvaan has flourished into an organisation set on making a difference. Following her career as an English teacher at Modern School, Mrs. Sarvjeet Seth, our Co-Founder, has furthered her passion for education at Ahvaan. Between them, they have been involved with education in India for several decades now.
Ambedkar University Delhi
The Ahvaan Trust has entered into an MoU with Ambedkar University Delhi or AUD. AUD functions as a master resource centre for the project. The Teacher Development Programme is based on a joint Ahvaan-AUD research conducted with academics and government school teachers over a period of 2-years. This research was published as a book called ‘Teachers in Conversation’.
Dr B.R. Ambedkar Vishwavidyalaya (Ambedkar University Delhi or AUD) was established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Mandated to focus on research and teaching in the social sciences and humanities and guided by Dr Ambedkar’s vision of bridging equality and social justice with excellence, AUD considers it to be its mission to create sustainable and effective linkages between access to and success in higher education. AUD is committed to creating an institutional culture characterised by humanism, non-hierarchical and collegial functioning, teamwork and creativity.
We work closely with the School of Education Studies (SES) and Centre for Early Childhood Education and Development (CECED). This collaboration is a model of University-School-NGO partnership aimed at mutual enhancement in the quality of teaching-learning.
